The Matchup: State Quarterfinals - Bothell Cougars (11-0) @ Bellarmine Prep Lions (8-3)
Kickoff: November 22, 2014. 1 PM. Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, WA.
Preview: Tomorrow, the Bothell Cougars will look to get revenge on Bellarmine Prep, the team that has knocked them out of the state playoffs in three of the last four years. This comes after the Lions went into Doc Harris Stadium and held the Camas offense to only 13 points, bringing the second-ranked Papermakers' season to an end by way of an upset. Bellarmine will look to carry that momentum into Mt. Tahoma this week, where they will face the top-ranked team in the state. The Cougars will be fighting their own bad memories on this field as they stare down their first appearance in the Tacoma Dome since 2009 with a win. The students and band shipped down from BHS on six rooter buses will likely transform Mt. Tahoma into their own home environment. This matchup is liable to be an exciting one.
Keys to the Game:
Bothell: We know the Cougars have a great offense, but so did Camas. Bothell is going to have to be able to overcome the quality Bellarmine defense, that has proved already that they can stop high-powered offense. The run game will have to be working with either Damani St. John-Watkins or Caleb Meyer. Bowers will have to continue to hit Dayzell Wilson, Jackson Keimig, and Cole Ford. Basically, they will have to continue what they have done all year on offense to relieve the pressure on their defense in a game like this.
Bellarmine Prep: As long as Bellarmine can get some stops on defense against the Cougars, the Lions would be putting a lot of pressure on the Cougar front seven. Even though it is the best front seven in the state, Bothell hasn't quite seen a team this year that does as well on the ground as Bellarmine does. If these things can happen, Bothell will probably get their best game of the season so far.
Prediction: Even though they will put up a great fight, Bellarmine Prep won't quite be able to bring Bothell's offense to a halt enough to end their season. Bothell will double up Bellarmine, despite a low-scoring output in comparison to the rest of the year. FINAL SCORE: Bothell 34, Bellarmine 17
